The Global MBA Supercars, Superbikes and Motorsports is a 12 month full-time program, taught in English.
During the first term, class activities will focus on general management, while starting from the second term, participants will study specialized subjects regarding Supercars, Superbikes and Motorsports. The program is complete when students complete a 500 hour internship. The internship will help students to improve their problem solving skills, apply their newly developed knowledge as well as give them the opportunity to face actual situations that arise within the business world.

The Master’s degree is a 12-month full-time program including 518 hours of class activities, 1300 hours of individual and group work and a 500 hour internship.
The academic portion is divided into three terms. During the first term students will study the fundamentals of general management, while the second and third term will concentrate on the specific subjects of each track (please, find further information about the courses in the section ‘Courses’ below).
I Term: September 2019 – December 2019
II Term – III Term: January 2020 – June 2020
The three terms are followed by an internship period of 500 working hours. The internship can be carried out at various companies and agencies in Italy or abroad. The internship serves as an opportunity for students to put into practice the theory and techniques learned during the three academic terms. The internship will allow students to obtain hands-on experience by working on management strategies, analyzing business operations, and creating solutions to real problems. Students are encouraged to make the most of the internship opportunity and to learn from the professionals they will be working with.
At the end of the internship students will be required to submit a ‘Final Report’, which they will present to the Director of Studies showcasing their activities and analyzing the theories and lessons learned during the program.
Students who are interested can also choose to take an extracurricular course of Italian.
This course provides an introduction to business planning concepts and the tools necessary to set up new businesses. Corporate entrepreneurship as well as various start-up cases will be developed.
The course lays out strategies and business models for competing successfully in the supercars sector, a sector where continuous innovation and visioning are necessary to anticipate and dictate future trends.
As in all sectors of luxury, the supply is able to create demand on its own, and this requires the ability to design disruptive strategies in an iterative manner and above all, to have the ability to change the business model even after satisfactory results.
For these reasons, this strategy course starts from positioning and the business model, and then subsequently indicates which resources and choices are necessary to guide change in the market, just like how Tesla demonstrates the ability to create (and not simply serve) new consumption segments. The strategies are then declared in the face of the ongoing digital transformation and are integrated and connected to the different business activities from marketing to research and development, from production to sourcing, from go-to-market to financing, and finally to the consumer.
The course will examine concrete cases as evidence, exercise and comparison.
The course provides a framework for understanding and analyzing investment and financial decisions of corporations. Lectures and readings provide an introduction to present value techniques, capital budgeting, capital structure decisions, corporate cost of capital, initial and seasoned equity offerings and an introduction to corporate risk management. Most of the topics presented during the course will also be analyzed and studied using a case study approach.
This course provides the core of corporate strategy through the identification of a superior competitive position, the analysis of a strategic situation and the creation of a proper organizational context to ensure the chosen strategy is the most effective one. Through the analysis of real-world cases, participants develop analytical skills that help them to acquire practical experience in dealing with strategic issues. The course aims to provide an understanding of the basic principles and practices of strategic management. It will develop a dynamic approach to competitive analysis and business strategy that is well suited to today's turbulent competitive environment.

This course introduces the main concepts of financial and managerial accounting. Financial accounting covers accounting notions, principles, and the structure of the three main financial statements. It also includes profitability and financial performance analysis. Managerial accounting includes basic cost concepts, cost behavior patterns, and the use of managerial accounting data for decision-making, management control systems and performance measurement systems. Particular focus is placed on intangible and intellectual capital measurement and reporting, on non-financial performance measurement systems and strategic cost management.
This cycle of seminars constitutes a unique occasion for the MBA students to meet and interact with key leaders of the global economic, social and political scene. These series of lectures, especially designed for the MBA class, reflects the main goal of the Program, which is to link theories and practice.
This course examines macroeconomics in open economies that are linked by trade, capital flows, and monetary policies. The goal is to provide a framework for understanding current events affecting the world economy. The participants acquire the analytical tools needed to examine the financial performance of economies, balance of payments problems and policy, the causes and consequences of exchange rate movements and the implications of macroeconomic relationships between countries.
This course will focus on: logistics in commercial relations (especially in intercontinental operations), customer service levels, and distribution costs.
The aim of this course is to put participants in contact with the most innovative experiences and initiatives of partner companies. The program is characterized by a pragmatic and experience based approach, which allows people to deal with executives and specialists both inside the companies and in their networks.
The course focuses on the organization of a company, identifying its characteristics and exploring the strategic design for working in and managing such an organization. The topics covered are focused on specific elements of organizational design linking them to the overarching organizational design system. This course will provide the analytical tools needed to handle the complexity of organizational design in the face of an increasingly globalized and fast-changing business environment. This course also addresses human resource issues from a strategic perspective and will concentrate on the development of concepts and strategies that may increase your effectiveness in developing policies and practices, enhancing the value of the people taking part in your organization.
The objective of this seminar is to provide a general understanding of what general management consulting is and the skills it requires. Students will be exposed to the main consulting frameworks and methods; consulting project activities and situations using business cases; and meet practicing consulting professionals from a variety of firms. As an integral part of the course they will also learn the basic tool required to organize and develop a business plan.
The course focuses on the main concepts of marketing management, analyzing both strategic marketing and mixed marketing activities. Specific topics covered are consumer behavior, the buying process, segmentation, product positioning, relationship marketing, branding at national and global levels, mixed marketing activities and investments such as pricing, advertising, and channel management. Participants will be able to plan a marketing strategy for an existing or new product and take it to the mixed marketing stage.
The development of new products in the automotive industry is a complex activity, especially for the interdisciplinary nature of the processes, the demand of a higher performances and the existence of more demanding targets.
The course analyses the process of developing new products, starting from the direct innovation to the leadership and the processes that could lead to develop brand new innovations, according to the strategic choices.
New Technologies in simulation allow an integration of design, technology and planning with unprecedented ways that transform the traditional approach to the product development and allow to experiment combining low costs to a high level quality. The course analyses the process that from the simulation leads to the prototyping and to the consequent industrialization, production and commercialization.
Performance is the core concept of the automotive and superbikes industry. Performances are strictly connected not only to competitions, but also to the series production, where performances represent one of the main characteristics of the products.
The course analyses the concept of performance and focus on different methodologies for measuring and managing a performance in all the process that characterizes the industry of supercars and superbikes.
The main topics covered will be: economic and financial information for managing a competitive benefit; models for the analysis of the economic and financial performance; parameters for the evaluation of company profitability; financial and strategic sustainability of the company performance.
The main purpose of the course is to give students an introduction to the key analytical tools necessary to effectively pursue the core courses. The course provides a survey of fundamental tools for analyzing financial and managerial problems including time value of money, elements of financial analysis, discounting, data analysis and basics of statistics and econometrics.
May they be made of a few executives (as in minor series) or hundreds of people (like in Formula 1) racing teams remain highly complex and competitive organizations which require specific understanding, tools and practices. Racing teams’ performance is influenced by a significant number of technical and management variables, and competition is exacerbated by tight time-frames and limited resources. Courses and programs tailored to managing racing teams are rather uncommon and executives usually learn the job on the field. Yet, in recent years the racing domain has emerged as a viable setting for management research and education. This course thus leverages timely research and practice to formalize and acquire all the competences necessary to managers working in racing team. The learning revolves around four key topics: (1) leadership and management; (2) financial performance and business modeling; (3) technology management and strategic innovation; (4) marketing and public relations.
The course is led by academics who are experts in the field, but it includes direct engagement with managers of racing teams.
The main aim of our teaching staff is to first lay down a solid foundation of theory and then to build on this foundation by introducing more practical aspects. This method will enable our students to confidently enter the work environment of the industry, ready to manage a variety of scenarios.
The teaching staff will help you develop your understanding of these concepts and techniques through the use of lectures and seminars; group projects and company visits; guest speakers and case studies; videos and presentations; as well as individual assignments and assisted private studying.

The tuition fees for the Global MBA Program are 35,000 euros (VAT free) to be paid in three installments (the first installment is due upon enrollment).
The fees include participation in the Master, all the study material which will be made available through the online platform, and access to the services and facilities of Bologna Business School, such as: a personal account for the BBS Wi-Fi, use of the PCs in the Computer Lab, access to the study areas, access to the internal gym and special rates for the School restaurant. Furthermore, the fee gives participants the right to take advantage of supporting activities of the School, such as the language courses and the master lectures by invitation.
Free parking on the BBS campus is also available to students.
In addition, University of Bologna Student Card grants access to all of the university facilities including more than 100 libraries (also consist of online subscriptions and databases), the three city center canteens and all university student related discount offers. There are two rounds of admissions, the first round will be open for applications until March, 2018. Admission to the program is subject to the positive assessment of the candidates’ individual interview and qualifications (e.g. curriculum vitae, GMAT/GRE, reference letters, etc.). The admission board, consisting of Bologna Business School faculty members, reviews the applications on a rolling basis. Candidates will be contacted by an admission team member as soon as their application has reached Bologna Business School.
In line with the number of available places, admission to the program is granted according to the applicants’ position in the list of qualified candidates, drawn up on the basis of the total score awarded at the end of the admission process.
