Where innovation meets collaboration: the first Residential of the Executive Master in Business Analytics and Data Science III

From November 28 to 30, 2024, Bologna Business School hosted the first Residential of the Executive Master in Business Analytics and Data Science III. This pivotal educational experience within the Program brought together students, faculty, and cutting-edge companies to delve into the key topics of data analysis and computational science. The event took place in a particularly evocative setting, bridging the historic Villa Guastavillani and the modern New Campus, and offered a rich agenda filled with content, practical activities, and networking opportunities.

Opening day: connections and discoveries

The first day began with a warm welcome from Elisa Montaguti, the Master’s Scientific Director, and Gabriele Tazzari, Executive Director. Participants then engaged in an ice-breaking activity led by Marco Marchegiani, CEO of 16Lab SRL, designed to foster interaction and create synergies within the group.
The day continued with a truly memorable company visit: Capgemini, a global leader in consulting and digital transformation, hosted the participants and provided insights into real-world applications of analytical and data science skills. From theory to practice in a context where innovation comes to life through data. The day concluded with an informal networking session.

 

Second Day: creativity and innovation

Friday, November 29, was dedicated to the theme of cyber-creativity and innovation, explored in an engaging lecture by Professor Giovanni Emanuele Corazza from the University of Bologna. In the afternoon, another significant milestone: a visit to Expert AI in Modena, where participants explored how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the corporate landscape. The day offered moments for reflection and sharing among participants, further emphasizing the value of networking.

 

Closing: from theory to practice

The final day began with the kick-off of the project work, guided by Riccardo Tesselli, Data Engineer at Infinitas Learning Technology. Participants then took part in a workshop on Python applied to business, led by Gabriele Tazzari and Francesco Puppini, R&D Engineer at Cube. It was another opportunity to bridge theory and practice, working on real cases with innovative tools.

 

An experience of growth and connection

This first Residential was not only a moment of learning but also an opportunity to build a community. It exemplified Bologna Business School’s interdisciplinary approach, where academic education meets the corporate world to create value. The event once again demonstrated the School’s commitment to enriching the preparation of managers and professionals through tools, connections, and visions to successfully tackle the challenges of digital transformation
