Quarantine Memories: dreaming of Bologna

20 May 2020

What is the first thing you will do once you are back to the ‘normal life’? What do you miss the most about Bologna? We asked about it to the participants of the Global MBA 2019/2020.

Among the symbolic places of the city, a virtual journey in the heart of Bologna, synonymous with culture, art, technology and flavors: the ideal place to specialize your education, thanks to an international context full of stimuli, and the role of first-line scientific and technological innovation, as evidenced by the recent news related to investments in the Chinese colossus Faw Motor Valley of Emilia.

Federica Virno, Global MBA in Food and Wine

“The first thing I would do when I am allowed outside is a big picnic in Giardini Margherita. I love that park and I have a very fond memories of times spent there with my fellow classmates. When we will be allowed outside, and the parks will reopen, we will have fast forwarded into summer so the park will be even more enjoyable. Looking forward to hug all my classmates and laugh together! Then, I have never visited the MAMBO, the museum of modern art of Bologna so as soon as it reopens I will defentely pay a visit to it”.

Silviu Tolu, Global MBA in Design, Fashion and Luxury Goods

“The first thing I will do when I get back will be getting a gelato from Cremeria La Vecchia Stalla. I will walk from one end to another of central Bologna and I will visit the museum of art (Pinacoteca) which I was planning to do in my spring break, before I had to go back to my home country. I cannot believe I haven’t done that yet! I would take the bus up to Villa Guastavillani and I’ll take a deep breath of the fresh air up in the hills and I’ll take more photos than usual. Hopefully, the flea market will be open so that I’ll “splurge” on a souvenir. Then I will have an aperitivo at Gamberini, ideally with my colleagues, and I will go to the best restaurant for tagliatelle al ragù. And I will do all of these dressed in my best outfits, some of which are now in my studio in Bologna and I don’t have access to them”.

Reihaneh Eshraghi, Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses

“When this time will over, the first thing I’ll do in this city is to discover all of his angles that I have never had the opportunity to visit before. I will live and enjoy every moment as if they were the last ones. I have never imagined how lucky I was to be here. But thanks to this situation, I realized that I miss it, I miss seeing the city living, seeing the people hanging around, hearing music from a bar as I cross the street, hearing people laughing and being happy just simply living. We were not used to think about how precious was life, we were taking everything as a simple ‘routine’. But after all, it made me realize that all of this was just what we call life miracles, that light our everyday life”.

Eurosia Besseghini, Global MBA in Supercars, Superbikes and Motorsports

“I miss driving to school every day, seeing people, talking and discussing lectures. As soon as we are allowed to, I will take a long drive around Bologna’s hills to Tuscany maybe, stop in Florence and just walk around all day with my husband and dog, before driving back home”.

Vladislav Ugarov, Global MBA in Supercars, Superbikes and Motorsports

“The spring is going at full speed here in Bologna, so when it’s safe to be outside I’d love to go to Giardini Margherita, which is a wonderful park with plenty of space to chill, to tan or read a book on the bench. Also, I can’t wait to see my friends and classmates live and not on the screen, so I’m pretty sure we’ll go for a dinner to Pizzeria da Michele and finish the night with some gelato at Cremeria Santo Stefano! Then, I’m looking forward to attend Madama Butterfly opera by Giacomo Puccini. I had a ticket for the show in February at Teatro Comunale di Bologna but unfortunately it was canceled due to the lockdown. Look forward to the grand re-opening!”.
