“A robot in every house – The leader of the PC revolution predicts that the next hot field will be robotics” – this was the title of an article written by Bill Gates in 2007 for Scientific American. Today, almost 12 years later, we are experiencing the 4th industrial revolution, whose main technology is cyber-physical systems, or in other words robots. Sensors and high computing power at low cost, new lightweight materials and an unprecedented production power allow us not only to have a robot in every home today, but even to create customized robots.

Robotics will be one of the most relevant aspects of the transformations under way in industries, hospitals and more generally in our daily lives. However, there are still challenges to be faced to turn this trend into reality.

During the Innovation Talk titled New Frontiers in Robotic Technologies, Alon Wolf will analyze the current and next prospects for the development of robotics and identify the gaps to overcome in order to realize the vision of a future of collaboration between humans and robots and not to lose one of the main trends of today’s market.

The main topics discussed during the event:

  • General overview on robotics and industry 4.0
  • Types of robot structures: from serial to parallel and “soft robotics”
  • Main components: sensors, controllers, connections
  • Artificial intelligence and robotics
  • The main gaps and challenges that prevent robots from being in every home
  • Conclusion: the new frontiers in technologies and robotics
