The third appointment with the spring edition of the Innovation Talks will host Matteo Marzotto, manager and entrepreneur, descendant of one of the most important Italian families in the Fashion sector. The event is organized in collaboration with Philip Morris Italia.
The Value of Failure is the title of the event during which Matteo Marzotto will review, through his entrepreneurial and sports experiences, the lessons learned from the failures encountered along his professional and personal path. The topic of failure, seen as an opportunity for growth and transformation, will be discussed together with Max Bergami, Dean of Bologna Business School.
Matteo Marzotto belongs to the sixth generation of the Marzotto family, one of the most important Italian entrepreneurial dynasties, operating in the wool industry since 1836. After working for fifteen years in companies related to family interests, between 2003 and 2008 it was first General Operational Director, then President of the fashion giant Valentino SpA.
He has been chairman of Dondup since September 2016, of Associazione Progetto Marzotto since October 2012 and of Mittelmoda Fashion Award since September 2008. As an entrepreneur he acquired and relaunched, between 2009 and 2013, the fashion house Vionnet SpA, of which he was also President.
Marzotto was also President and Managing Director of Fiera di Vicenza SpA from 2013 to 2016. In 2016 he took on the role of Executive Vice President of Italian Exhibition Group SpA, a company born from the integration between Fiera di Vicenza and Rimini Fiera.
From 2013 to 2016 he served as President of the CUOA Foundation – University Center of Business Organization. Matteo Marzotto was also president and commissioner of ENIT (National Agency of Tourism) between 2008 and 2011.
Passionate and active in sports, Marzotto has on his record, among other things, a participation in the Formula 3 Monaco Grand Prix and five editions of the Paris Dakar.
Matteo Marzotto is also involved in many social responsibility activities. Already in 1997 he promoted the foundation of the Research Foundation on Cystic Fibrosis – Onlus. In 2014 he released his book Bike Tour. Pedaling for research (Rizzoli), which tells about the sporting initiative that since 2012 involves an increasingly large group of athletes and amateurs in a trip along Italy, to raise awareness about fibrosis cystic and support its research.
His first forty years as a manager and sportsman are also told in the book Volare alto. Quel che ho imparato fin qui dalla vita (Flying High. What I have learned so far from life – Mondadori, 2009).
