A full immersion in innovation for the Professional Master’s in Marketing Management

10 July 2023

An intense and experience-filled week for students and faculty from Bologna Business School and WFI – Ingolstadt School of Management.

Master’s in Marketing Management and Data Marketing and Analytics at BBS and WFI – Ingolstadt School of Management met for an exchange on innovation in the retail sector. The “Innovation Immersion in Retail” event allowed participants to explore a constantly evolving world in depth through company visits and in-depth meetings with industry experts.

The week opened at Villa Guastavillani with an informal meeting dedicated to the participants, followed by the official opening with welcome speeches by directors Gabriele Pizzi of BBS and Shashi Matta of WFI Ingolstadt School of Management. Patrizio Pecunia, a former manager at Amazon, then gave a lecture titled “Innovation immersion: what does it practically mean?” which allowed for immediate contextualization of the objectives of the week-long exchange, thanks in part to the many questions and curiosities of the participants.

The next day, participants visited Datalogic, a leading data collection technology company, where they learned more about the company’s innovative solutions. After lunch, the group moved to FICO Eataly World, where a guided tour and a session by Patrizio Pecunia on Customer Experience took place.

The third day, in Villa Guastavillani, opened with a debriefing of the teamwork activities at FICO and a presentation by Matteo Esposito, CEO and Founder of InVRsion. Participants conducted further team activities in the afternoon, followed by project presentations and related feedback. The last day was dedicated to a guided tour of Bologna, organized in collaboration with Bologna Welcome.

This exchange was a full immersion in innovation and a valuable opportunity to network, deepen the skills learned during the Master’s program and gain a broader perspective. Meetings with industry experts, company visits and teamwork activities fostered meaningful connections and inspiration to build successful international careers.
