The journey at Bologna Business School often marks a turning point for those aiming to become leaders in their industries. Nicolò Maroni, an alumnus of the Master in Business Management – Food & Wine, shares how this program shaped his career and led him to his current role as Marketing Manager at Cesari.
How did the Master in Business Management – Food & Wine at Bologna Business School accelerate your career? What were the key aspects that prepared you for the role of Marketing Manager at Cesari?
The Master in Business Management – Food & Wine shaped me into a manager. It provided me with a structured methodology based on the knowledge I gained during the program and helped me develop a systematic approach to work. Working in teams and interacting with the professors were invaluable experiences that gave me insight into the critical elements for professional growth even before entering the job market.
You were hired by Cesari immediately after your internship. What practical experiences during the Master do you think contributed most to this achievement?
Every stage of the Master had a direct impact on my day-to-day work. The foundational courses, such as Marketing and Management and Control, helped reinforce my existing knowledge and encouraged a holistic view of business, showing me how different departments are interconnected. The industry-specific courses in Food & Wine were equally impactful: I gained a deep understanding of large-scale retail, production chains, and the dynamics of the Italian food and wine sector. The Project Work was especially valuable, offering my first experience in a practical, team-based setting. It taught me the key drivers behind successful projects and how to navigate challenges collaboratively.
You’ve remained engaged with Bologna Business School after completing the program, participating in various community activities. What does it mean to you to maintain this connection and support the growth of new students?
BBS and the time I spent in Bologna are integral parts of my journey. Being part of this community is something I’m incredibly proud of. Supporting the growth of new students is deeply rewarding for me—sharing knowledge creates immense value at no cost.
What advice would you give to someone looking to build a career in the Food & Wine sector? How can a Master’s program make a difference?
My advice is to approach the journey with enthusiasm and an open mind. Every activity in the program has the potential to foster growth—it all depends on how much you invest yourself in the experience. It’s crucial to recognize the value of the opportunity and take full advantage of what Bologna Business School offers. Just like in the professional world, the path you take is yours to create. Personally, my time at BBS was one of the most rewarding periods of my life, and I had the privilege of meeting people who will always be part of my story. I’m confident this experience can be just as enriching for anyone willing to embrace it fully.
