Mario Nicolas Mora, Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses

21 February 2020

“Discovering the path towards a more sustainable future” says in his LinkedIn profile Mario Nicolas Mora, who wanted to make his passion for sustainable development the focus of his professional career.

Born in 1991 and with a degree in economics, Mario chose the Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses of Bologna Business School to enrich his skills.

“The impact of man on our planet has become evident. The address of the Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses proposed by BBS develops the mentality necessary to understand this change and act accordingly. This beautiful historic venue and having to deal with colleagues from different cultures have given me a unique experience in life, for which I am grateful”, he told the BBS Community.

The strong points of the Master

The Master was an extraordinary life experience for me. For me the international perspective of the Global MBA is the main difference compared to the other programs. Getting to know people from all over the world is the factor that has given more value to my career. Furthermore, one has the privilege of studying in a historic villa of the sixteenth century, which contributes to creating a magical atmosphere. From the didactic point of view, we had the opportunity to attend courses with a more practical approach such as Business Ethics and Sustainable Development, which allowed us to get closer to the world of renewable energy and corporate sustainability. Another undisputed value is certainly that of the internationality of the teachers, who through their experiences have shown us how they treat them in different countries. During the teaching process we were able to work with some start up to immediately apply the theoretical knowledge and analytical skills acquired.

Short and long term goals

Before attending I was Customer Relationship Management Master at a logistics company: thanks to BBS I was able to make a qualitative leap by approaching the sector I wanted and now I am Sustainability & CSR Analyst at SCS Consulting, where in the first phase I dealt with assistance in benchmarking, stakeholder involvement, materiality analysis and sustainability reports; then for a few months I have added more targeted tasks, such as analysis and support on KPI sustainability and management projects. My long-term goal is to become an entrepreneur and create a sustainable company.

Advice for a future student BBS

What I would recommend to a future BBS student is to live this experience by taking advantage of the opportunities it offers, to be curious and to “absorb” as much as possible also from the experiences of one’s classmates. The program is one of the first and among the best in Europe to successfully combine business and environmental and global sustainability issues.
