Kick-Off for the BBS MBA Weekend: Launching a New Edition

On Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28, 2024, the historic Villa Guastavillani hosted the kick-off of the 27th edition of the MBA Weekend at BBS.

The event began an intensive and opportunity-rich educational journey for professionals seeking to enhance their managerial and leadership skills.

The day opened with welcome remarks from Mariachiara Colucci, the Program’s Academic Director, and Andrea Cinti Luciani, the Executive Director. Participants could meet and exchange ideas in an informal yet stimulating environment. “We are thrilled to welcome the new participants to this edition of our MBA Weekend,” said Mariachiara Colucci. “This program offers unique opportunities to develop managerial and leadership skills essential for tackling future challenges.” Andrea Cinti Luciani also shared his enthusiasm: “Our goal is to provide concrete tools and effective strategies that participants can immediately apply in their professional context. Direct engagement with real-world cases is a key part of the program.”

Following the introductions, Emanuele Bacchiega, Associate Professor of Political Economy at the University of Bologna, led the first session with a Crash Course in Economics. During this session, participants reviewed key microeconomic concepts and business theory, preparing them to tackle future managerial challenges. Bacchiega’s clear and practical approach engaged the participants in discussions on the economic dynamics that drive the business world.

The afternoon session focused on Strategy and Business Modeling and was led by Mariachiara Colucci and Andrea Cinti Luciani. The instructors guided participants through an in-depth exploration of business strategy, analyzing models and techniques for effective implementation. This session allowed participants to engage with real-world case studies and practical tools for crafting winning strategies for business success.

Another highlight was Saturday’s talk by Carlo Pelloni, Chief Financial Officer at Macron, who offered insights from a company that has thrived through bold and visionary strategies in recent years.

 

The MBA Weekend at Bologna Business School stands out for its practical, forward-looking approach, allowing participants to acquire skills that can be immediately applied in their professional environments and the first two days of the program showcased the quality of the curriculum and the high level of interaction between faculty and students, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

With such a strong start, the 27th edition of the MBA Weekend promises to be a journey of continuous growth, with many challenges and achievements on the horizon.
