How can innovation reduce social inequality?

In February 2015, the OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the Confederation of Indian Industry co-hosted a three-day conference in New Delhi, allowing stakeholders to share experiences in working towards inclusive innovations that could have large scale impacts.

A booklet on Scaling up Inclusive Innovations was released at the event, which is taken from the forthcoming OECD publication, Innovation Policies for Inclusive Development.

In serving the welfare of lower–income groups, policy makers are confronted with the challenge of boosting economic growth while making it socially inclusive. Key to the debate on inclusive innovation is what role governments, the private sector, research communities and other entities can play in enabling inclusive innovations.
