Nicola is among the most active venture capitalists in Italy and he brings a sound experience in global and European leadership positions among multinational industrial organisations. He combines his financial and industrial competencies with academic and research appointments. He has been member of the High Level Group on Innovation Policy Management, an independent, tripartite and temporary initiative launched in 2011 by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and tasked to elaborate recommendations on how to develop Europe’s innovation policy. He is currently Investment Director at Vertis SGR and a Non Executive Director at D-Orbit, Glomeria Therapeutics, International Plant Analysis and Diagnostics as well as Personal Factory S.p.A
This course provides an introduction to business planning concepts and the tools necessary to set up new businesses. Corporate entrepreneurship as well as various start-up cases will be developed.
The course introduces the financial instruments available during the various stages of the innovation process. It will demonstrate the specifics of these tools, ranging from non-reimbursable grants to equity participation, highlighting their coherency with the characteristics of the phase in which they are employed. For each instrument, and in particular for seed and venture capital, the course will bring up specific cases with testimonies by professionals and entrepreneurs; the typical dynamics of selection, investment and results of venture capitalists will also be discussed by means of group assignments.
