Riccardo Manzini is a professor of Mechanical Industrial Plants at the department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Bologna. He's the Director of the Food Supply Chain Center, an international research centre in logistics and operations for the agri-food chain and fresh produce. He's a Member of the Wine Supply Chain Council. He's the author of several scientific research projects of international relevance for the planning, management and optimisation of complex production systems. He's an expert in: warehouses, distribution logistics chains, sustainability and measurement of the environmental impact for logistics, reliability and maintenance. He published internationally renowned books on the themes of storage, supply chain management, reliability engineering of production systems. He's professor of Logistics and Industrial Plants at the Engineering and Architecture School in Bologna, of Quality Management and Production system Safety at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He's the coordinator of several research projects commissioned by private companies in the large-scale retail trade, automation, logistics, automatic machinery, automotive, food sector, etc. He's a partner and coordinator of ministerial and European projects.
This course focuses on the study of processes required to create value for a final consumer, through the contribution of a network of companies (generally labelled as “supply chain”). Basic as well as more advanced elements of supply chain structure and management, purchasing processes and supplier management will be analysed. Special focus will be devoted to concepts and applications of “digital supply chains.
