Andrea Carosi is Full Professor of Corporate Finance at the University of Sassari. He has been Visiting Professor at Westminster Business School of London, and Professor of Corporate Finance at the University of Bologna and Johns Hopkins University. His research interests and major publications are mainly related to empirical asset pricing, behavioural finance, IPO, and corporate governance. He has published numerous articles in prestigious finance journals (among others, Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Banking and Finance).

COURSES

The course is intended to provide the conceptual and practical tools for evaluating and maximizing the value of the business. The themes of capital budgeting (investment assessment), company valuation, cost of capital and financial structure will be discussed.

Evaluation of investment projects. Evaluation of international projects. Financial structure. Optimal financial structure. Instability costs. Planning debt. The politics of dividends and stock buyback. Cost of the working capital of the company. The important role of capital and corporate governance.

Finance, Control and Sustainability

The course provides a framework for understanding and analysing investment and financial decisions of corporations. Lectures and readings provide an introduction to present value techniques, capital budgeting, capital structure decisions, corporate cost of capital, initial and seasoned equity offerings and an introduction to corporate risk management.
