First Conference on Impact Case Study in Villa Guastavillani

3 June 2024

Bologna Business School, supported by The Case Centre, hosted the first edition of the Conference on Impact Case Study at Villa Guastavillani.

The event, organized by BBS Impact Case Studies Hub and supported by The Case Centre, brought together academics and business leaders to share knowledge and innovative solutions to contemporary managerial challenges.

Numerous case studies were presented throughout the day, highlighting Italian excellence and innovation in SMEs. Topics included Italy’s transformation into a leading nation for startups, reducing materials in SMEs to increase environmental value and customer-centric approaches adopted by large companies like 3M. Particular attention was also given to the challenges of decarbonization in the service sector and the development of new products in the context of large companies.

The conference provided an important platform for dialogue between the academic and business worlds, facilitating the transformation of acquired knowledge into practical tools for managerial education and the dissemination of best practices.

“We believe that moments like these, of dialogue between businesses and academics, are extremely useful for future work that truly aims to generate impact,” explained Prof. Elisa Villani, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Bologna. “We are pleased with the participation, the high quality of the cases presented, and the depth reached during the various debates.”

The best case studies were awarded during the closing ceremony, recognizing the significant contributions of participants in developing relevant business solutions and improving managerial education.
