Francesco has extensive professional experience of over 20 years in the HR field. He began working for Vodafone Italy in 2000 and extended his experience internationally in other HRD roles, such as HR Director of Vodafone Ireland, before moving to the Netherlands as HR and Property Director in 2011.
He continued his career in the Vodafone Group following the acquisition of Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW) as HR Director of CWW.
Francesco was appointed HR Director of Vodafone Group Technology in May 2013 and subsequently became HR Director for Vodafone in Europe from October 2015, where he significantly strengthened the potential of all European markets and led the digital strategy agenda and developed gender and LGBT inclusion strategies. Since 1 June 2018, Francesco has been appointed HR Director, Asia Pacific & Middle East and in 2019 he assumed the role of Global People and Organization Development Director. In 2018 he was also appointed non-executive director on the Board of Safaricom PLC in Kenya and alternate non-executive director on the Board of Vodacom PLC in South Africa where he sits on the nominations and remuneration committee and on the risk and reputation committee.


The aim of the course is to enhance students’ awareness of the digital transformation and the changes that this bring in the HR profession. Students will be challenged with the following questions: How is changing the job of a HR professional due to the rise of digital technologies and analytics? What are the competences the HR managers need to develop in order to have a more strategic role in the companies and help their companies to anticipate and manage the transition. Students will also be presented with a framework that will help them to understand the mindset and the necessary steps to implement an analysis project of people in their organization. Moreover, they will be shown how the analytics can help HR managers to improve their decision-making process. The examples will cover the following topics: how could it be measured the impact of the managerial role in the workplace? How can the analysis help to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of the recruitment process? Basic and advanced metrics will also be discussed in class.
