May 05 2015 - 6.00 pm - Bologna Business School - Villa Guastavillani - Via degli Scalini, 18 - Bologna

Poh Kam Wong, professor at the National University of Singapore, will tell us about the great business opportunities and the innovation trends in the countries of Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam .

ASEAN is a dynamic region of 600 million people and a US$2 trillion market, but it is a conundrum of under-exploited opportunities caused by market fragmentation.  In this MBA Lecture, the professor Poh Kam Wong will provide an overview of the recent development trends of the ASEAN region in terms of technological innovation and entrepreneurship activities, highlight the opportunities and challenges for future growth, and share examples of recent initiatives by Singapore to accelerate technology entrepreneurship in ASEAN.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a political and economic organization of ten countries located in Southeast Asia, which was formed on 8 August 1967 by Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Since then, membership has expanded to include Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma) and Vietnam. Its aims include accelerating economic growth, social progress, sociocultural evolution among its members, protection of regional peace and stability, and opportunities for member countries to discuss differences peacefully.

The motto of ASEAN is “Vision, One Identity, One Community”.
