Master Lecture: The UK & The EU – A New Partnership

Mar 07 2017 - 6.00 pm - Bologna Business School - Villa Guastavillani, Via degli Scalini 18 - Bologna

H.M. Jill Morris CMG, British Ambassador in Italy and non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of San Marino, meets BBS Community to comment on the impact of Brexit.

First woman to hold this role for the United Kingdom, Jill Morris has been appointed on December 1st, 2015. Diplomatic since 1999, she had held positions at the British Embassy in Nicosia, Brussels and the London Office of the European Union. She’s been, in fact, the director of the Department of European Affairs of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office since 2012.

The Ambassador will speak about the “special relationship” that exists between our country and the United Kingdom because of the choice of many Italian citizens to work and study in the UK. Precisely for this reason, she will explore the theme of Brexit and social and economic impacts coming from that:

“Getting out from European Union does not mean out of Europe. The UK will continue to be a European country due to geographical, historical, cultural , intellectual and emotional reasons (…) Changes are inevitable, but Europe and Great Britan will continue to share interests and objectives to ensure peace, security and prosperity.”
