A Challenge for Growth: Camilla Sgobino’s Journey Through the Executive Master in Sales and Marketing

19 August 2024

In a rapidly evolving corporate world, continuous education has become imperative for professionals striving for excellence. Camilla Sgobino, Business Architecture Specialist at Accenture, embraced this challenge by attending the Executive Master in Sales and Marketing at Bologna Business School. Her experience highlights the transformative potential of the program, offering valuable insights for those looking to embark on a new growth path in this field.

Can you tell us a bit about your journey before enrolling at BBS and how you decided to opt for the Executive Master in Sales and Marketing?

I have been working in a consulting company since 2018, and after 6 years of work, especially after the pandemic period in which we lived through a surreal reality, I felt the need to add a new challenge to my daily work. I felt the need to challenge myself again, taking on a new experience and stepping out of my comfort zone.

What were the most significant moments of your educational journey, and how did you manage to balance study and work during the master’s program?

The most challenging yet rewarding moment of the year was managing and preparing for the second module, where we tackled numerous topics both theoretically and analytically. Regarding the management of work and the master’s program, I invested part of my free time (with pleasure) in deepening the topics covered in class, participating in tutorships, and engaging with my classmates. The key is to organize yourself well between study and work. I studied and prepared in the evenings after finishing my workday and on weekends when I didn’t have class.

What were the main benefits you gained from participating in the master’s program in relation to your professional journey?

The Master’s experience was enriching in many aspects. Of course, I acquired valuable technical skills, but what truly made a difference was meeting a group of truly brilliant professionals. These colleagues generously shared their experiences, offering genuine insights into their professional and personal realities. It was a reciprocal exchange: I also had the opportunity to share my knowledge and background with professionals from completely different sectors than mine. This continuous exchange of ideas and perspectives was a real breath of fresh air for me, broadening my horizons and stimulating new reflections on my career and professional path.

What advice would you give to those considering enrolling in the same Master’s program, and what skills or attitudes do you think are important to gain the most benefit?

In my opinion, the Executive Master in Sales and Marketing is particularly valuable for two categories of professionals:

  • For those already in the field, it represents an opportunity for deepening and specialization. It offers cutting-edge tools and advanced knowledge that allow you to refine your skills in Sales and Marketing, keeping up with the latest market trends and strategies.
  • For those coming from other fields, the Master can serve as a bridge to new career opportunities. It is ideal for professionals who wish to explore the world of Sales and Marketing, providing a solid theoretical and practical foundation to undertake a career change or expand their scope within their company.

This master allows you to challenge yourself in time management and the organization of your work/study day. In my experience, it is necessary for the candidate to be flexible and curious.
