Global MBA students from Bologna Business School, specializing in the Supercars, Superbikes, and Motorsports track, took part in an exclusive Leadership Talk with Alessandra Stradella, Brand Manager at Maserati Corse.
The event, titled “Strategy and Branding in Motorsport: The Experience of Maserati Corse“, explored the brand’s strategy in its racing division, its deep roots in motorsport, and its vision for the future.
The Present and Future of Maserati Corse
Alessandra Stradella shared insights into Maserati’s return to competitive racing—on one hand, the new adventure in Formula E with electric single-seaters, and on the other, the presence in the GT2 Championship, which keeps the brand’s sporting DNA alive. These two complementary aspects define Maserati Corse’s identity in the contemporary motorsport landscape.
During the session, Stradella outlined the philosophy and guiding principles of the Corse division, emphasizing how racing serves as a true innovation lab. The materials presented highlighted the company’s continuous commitment to research and the development of cutting-edge solutions.
Engaging with Industry Professionals: A Valuable Learning Experience
For Global MBA students, direct conversations with industry leaders significantly enhance their academic journey. As participant Marco Giordano Muratore pointed out:
“The real value of an MBA compared to a traditional academic path is the opportunity to engage with industry experts, ask questions, and build a professional network. This event provided a concrete perspective on how a historic brand like Maserati successfully balances heritage and innovation in motorsport.”
Carmen Cristofaro also shared her thoughts on the importance of experiential learning opportunities:
“Studying business strategies and case studies is essential, but nothing can replace direct interaction with professionals working in the field every day. I always thought of motorsport as pure adrenaline and speed, but this talk revealed another dimension: a true ‘workshop of the future,’ where track-developed technologies become innovations for the cars of tomorrow.”
From Track to Road: A Continuous Evolution
One particularly intriguing aspect of the discussion was the connection between motorsport and road car production. “Racing is a crucial testing ground for technological development,” emphasized Marco Giordano Muratore, “where advanced solutions are tested and later applied to market-ready vehicles. A prime example mentioned during the session was the Nettuno V6 engine, developed by Maserati, which delivers top-tier performance both on the road and on the track.”
The Leadership Talk with Alessandra Stradella reaffirmed the value of an interdisciplinary and innovation-driven approach, a hallmark of the Global MBA program at Bologna Business School. For students in the Supercars, Superbikes, and Motorsports track, this event provided a concrete opportunity to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities of the industry, enriching their vision of the future of automotive and motorsport.
