An international dialogue at Bologna Business School on the future of energy. The energy transition is one of the central challenges of our time. With the global goal of decarbonizing the economy, the energy sector is facing a delicate balancing act: integrating renewable energy sources, meeting growing energy demand, and ensuring the resilience of power grids.
On May 15, 2025, Bologna Business School hosted the event “The Energy Transition: where do we really stand?”, a session dedicated to analysing the current state of the energy transition, its critical issues, and the technological innovations that are reshaping the sector. The event took place in the Enzo Ferrari Room on the School’s New Campus.
The session featured international experts from across the energy sector:
– Eleonore Lazat, Commercial Director, Granular Energy
– Crispin Leick, Managing Director, EnBW New Ventures
– Sanjeet Sanghera, Head of Strategic Futures, National Energy System Operator for Great Britain
– Amanda Ahl, PhD, Grid Innovation Expert, Extended Faculty member at Bologna Business School
Amanda Ahl contributed a valuable perspective on the role of digitalization in the energy value chain, from smart grids to the application of technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence within electric utilities. Holding a PhD in Technology Management from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and with extensive international experience, Ahl is also a lecturer in the MBA Green Strategy and Sustainable Development course at BBS.
Moderated by Alessandro Pastore, Industry Leader of the Sustainability and Innovation track of the Global MBA, the event welcomed not only BBS program participants, but also students from the University of Bologna and Bayes Business School (UK), currently in Bologna for an international exchange.
The event provided an opportunity to explore future energy strategies through an interdisciplinary lens and to reaffirm the role of managerial education in building sustainable models.
Through events like this, Bologna Business School confirms its commitment to shaping business leaders capable of driving the energy transition, developing skills that bring together management, technology, and sustainability.
