31 October 2019

On October 30th the fourth edition of StartUp Ecosystem Day was held, an initiative of Bologna Business School created to promote networking between its Community and a selection of the best Italian Excellence Startups.

After the welcome of Riccardo Fini, Director of the Entrepreneurship HUB and creator of the event, of Marcello Russo, Director of the Global MBA and of Andrea Lipparini, Director of the Executive MBA, the StartUp present were divided into 4 classrooms according to their sectors, corresponding to the 4 specializations of the Global MBA of Bologna Business School: fashion & luxury, food & wine, green energy and automotive & innovation.

Two rounds of StartUp Pitch followed by direct comparison in the various work tables.

Thus one of the areas for which our country is known internationally has given voice to some interesting realities linked to Food & Wine, presented by the Scientific Director Ludovica Leone. Projects that are different from each other, but united by the attempt to innovate the experiential aspect of the food and wine sector, with a renewed ethical sensitivity and a new focus on the organic field.

From Cooki, new software to communicate food compositions to consumers according to legal obligations, to SquisEat, which fights food waste by proposing the edible surpluses of restaurant services, passing through Vinhood which traces the map of tastes through algorithms and SpirEat, which offers products based on spirulina algae, up to Squat & Basilico, the first Italian startup specialized in the production and distribution of dishes designed by professionals.

In the classroom that hosted the StartUp operating in the sectors of Design, Fashion and Luxury, the common denominator was greater attention to sustainability and to the artisan tradition. Starting with JoyItalianLuxury, which aims to create a digital interactive platform, to give international visibility to the gold products of the historic district of Valenza, to Cling-o-matic, who designed a machine capable of assembling clothes using three-dimensional stitching exploiting the force of atmospheric pressure at B.e Quality, promoter of responsible slow-fashion. Confirming the fact that Made in Italy is born from the union of creativity, people, passions, culture and elegance, as claimed by Angelo Manaresi, Scientific Director of the Global MBA in Design, Fashion and Luxury Goods.

Luca Paggetti, Head of Growth and Financing Start-up of Intesa Sanpaolo, presented the StartUp active in Green Energy and Sustainability. These include Agricolus, which develops solutions for smart agriculture, Hortown, composed of urban farmers who want to improve agricultural food production in the city and Sfridoo, which identifies operational strategies to give new life to waste materials coming from companies. The efficient use of natural resources is the basis of the research of these young managers who see in the challenges posed by climate emergencies new principles on which to create the future of companies. “Forming new leaders who take into account the importance of sustainable development and renewable energy makes us proud”, said Matteo Mura, Co-Scientific Director of the Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses.

A stone’s throw from the Italian Motor Valley could not miss the space dedicated to the Startups of the Automotive and Innovation. “The Supercars sector, Superbikes and Motorsports is facing epochal changes, which make new business models and new technologies necessary” says Federico Munari, Co-Director of the Global MBA in Supercars, Superbikes and Motorsport. Among the managerial ideas presented during the October 30th event, AI Parts, which brings Artificial Intelligence in the Automotive sector and Novac Supercap that revolutionizes electric mobility through energy accumulators.

The StartUp Ecosystem Day is a unique event of its kind, which once again has compared past and future generations, knowledge, points of view and projects to give voice to the managers that will come, under the motto of “Multiplying opportunities”.
