As part of the International Week 2024, participants in the Executive MBA English Edition, the Global MBA Ferrari II, and the EMBA Ferrari IV, spent a week in Silicon Valley, exploring the global innovation ecosystem.
We interviewed Panagiotis Stratis, Platforming Specialist at Prismic, PhD, and Executive MBA English Edition Candidate at Bologna Business School, to learn how this experience enriched his vision of management and innovation.
What was the most memorable aspect of International Week, and what stood out to you most during the company visits?
The most memorable aspect was experiencing firsthand the culture of innovation and the forward-thinking mindset that permeates Silicon Valley. During the company visits, what struck me most was the integration of advanced technology with human-centered design principles, especially evident at IDEO. Their approach, which draws inspiration from various sectors through analogous research, made me reflect on the importance of interdisciplinary thinking to drive technological innovation.
How do you think the international activities and collaborations from this week might influence your approach to leadership and business management?
This experience has profoundly impacted my approach to leadership. I have gained a new awareness of the importance of an international perspective and diversity within teams. The example of companies like Zoox, capable of maintaining investor confidence despite a lack of immediate revenue, has inspired me to think more boldly about long-term strategies. Additionally, I plan to adopt more design thinking principles, as demonstrated by IDEO, to drive organizational change.
How has your experience with San Jose State University enriched your perspective on global topics in management and innovation? Are there aspects you plan to bring into your daily work?
The lectures at San Jose State University expanded my understanding of emerging technologies, such as advancements in quantum computing and AI infrastructure. This advanced perspective encourages me to prioritize investments in AI and align technological innovation with market needs—a principle I will carry forward in my leadership role.
You had the chance to connect with international colleagues and professionals: what were the main sources of inspiration or new perspectives that emerged?
Connecting with international colleagues and professionals was incredibly inspiring. I particularly appreciated discussions with individuals from diverse sectors and cultures (special mention to the Ferrari colleagues with whom I was lucky to share this experience!). Conversations about Zoom’s strategy, which combines low-cost AI with an integration-first approach, inspired me to foster a collaborative leadership style with a global vision.
The International Week 2024 in Silicon Valley provided Panagiotis and his Executive MBA, Global MBA Ferrari II, and the EMBA Ferrari IV colleagues with a unique opportunity to explore the world of innovation from all angles. Through company visits, advanced lectures with San Jose State University, and inspiring conversations with industry experts, participants immersed themselves in an ecosystem that continues to drive technological and managerial change on a global scale.
