Sara Montagna is working in-between biology and computer science (BIO-ICT convergence) studying the application of innovative techniques devised in computer science and agent-based systems, in particular in challenging bio/healthcare scenarios, such as self-management of chronic diseases and Hospital 4.0. She got her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering in January 2007 (110/110 cum Laude) and her PhD in Computer Science in April 2011. Since October 2012 she is a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DISI) of the University di Bologna. She has published more than 40 papers, out of which 12 on renowned Internal Journals. In 2017, she was granted the National Scientific Qualification to function as Associate Professor by MIUR (09/H1).


The emergence of mobile, wearable, and hands-free technologies is having a huge impact on healthcare, since it makes clinical data collection, access, sharing, and elaboration easy. The course discusses how IoT technologies can impact on the health-care domain, and how the Internet of Healthy Things care expected to change health-care systems of tomorrow.
