Marco Furini is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Dipartimento di Comunicazione ed Economia (Communication and Economics Department), of the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bologna in 2001. He has been a member of the Advanced Networking Group of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst (USA) and has been a researcher at the Dipartimento di Informatica (Computer Science Department) of the Università del Piemonte Orientale (2001-2008). His research activity is focused on social issues and multimedia computing. In these areas he is Associate Editor of three international Journals and he authored more than sixty scientific articles published in journals, conferences, books and volumes of international encyclopedias. Several of his articles have received international awards and are cited in international patents filed by multinational companies of the ICT sector.
