Giovanna Cosenza is Associate Professor of Communication Sciences in the Department of Philosophy and Communication at the University of Bologna. She deals with new media, with special insights into Web 2.0 and social media, Italian political communication from 2008 to 2011 and participated in the two-year research, ""The representation of the Mediterranean, between memory and project. Stereotypes, new identity politics, semiotic constructions."" She is Chairperson of the Regional Committee for Communications for Emilia-Romagna and coordinates the undergraduate program in Communication Sciences. She provides consulations and training in the field of communication (in particular in the area of business writing, new media and social networking). Previously she was President of the degree in Semiotics. She obtained a degree in philosophy and a doctorate in semiotics under the direction of Umberto Eco at the University of Bologna.
