Full Professor of Computer Science and Engineering University of Bologna

Gianluigi Zavattaro is Full Professor and Director of First Cycle Degree of Information Science for Management at University of Bologna.

He is member of the IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), of the editorial board of the “Journal of Software (JSW)” and member of the “steering committee” of conferences such as the “International Conference on Coordination Models and Languages (COORDINATION)” and the “IFIP International Conference on Formal Techniques for Distributed Systems”.

He is co-author of more than 100 scientific publications published in journals, conference proceedings, and books. He has been speaker at PhD schools, chair of the program committee of international conferences and member of almost 50 program committee of international conferences.

He participated to several research projects: in particular he has been coordinator of the strategic project “CompReNDe (Compositional and executable Representations of Nano Devices)” and he has been responsible for specific research themes within the European project “SENSORIA (Software Engineering for Service-Oriented Overlay Computers)”.

COURSES

The course provides a general introduction to digital culture, focusing in particular on the following topics:

  • Principles related to automatic data processing: birth of the concept of algorithm and studies related to its limits.
  • Application of the concepts of modeling and algorithmic processing in the context of business processes.
  • The rise of Artificial Intelligence, from Turing’s imitation game to Industry 4.0.
